Cultivating a Felt-Sense of Internal and External Safety to Heal Neuroplastic Symptoms
Jointly bringing 40 years of clinical experience in working with neuroplastic symptoms, Movement Lecturer Mags Clark-Smith and Psychologist Jennifer Franklin, PhD, have developed a new framework for understanding how to help patients to have felt-sense of safety. This experiential workshop will introduce the concept of “internal and external safety” in the context of relationships as a pathway out of the pattern of physiological and psychological symptoms in which patients get stuck. Participants will be invited to deepen their understanding of safety through the practice of some simple exercises that can be readily implemented in their work settings and personal lives.
Learning Objectives
By attending this workshop, participants will be able to:
Distinguish between internal and external safety.
Develop greater attunement to the relational dynamics between patient and practitioner.
Apply experiential methods to deepen connection with oneself and others by focusing on increasing a felt-sense of safety in the here and now.
Refine somatic, affective, attunement, compassion, presence, and relational skills.
